Transact Credit Union Corporation, its customers and staff have donated more than $20,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.
In the wake of this summer’s bushfire disaster, Transact Credit Union Corporation has contributed $20,689.20 to the Red Cross and its support of those who have lost so much due to the devastating bushfires.
Transact Credit Union held a fundraising day across its branches and offices last month when customers and staff dug deep to donate to those in need.
The money raised by generous customers and staff was then matched by Transact Credit Union Corporation, resulting in the donation of more than $20,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.
“We all saw the heartbreaking images and footage from the bushfires and wanted to do something to help,” Transact Credit Union Corporation CEO Peter Lock said.
“Transact Credit Union staff drove our fundraising efforts and our customers who visited our branches were very generous in donating to the cause.
“I think we’re all very thankful that we have an organisation like the Red Cross there to help people through disasters like we saw with the bushfires across numerous states. We hope our contribution assists the Red Cross in its work to provide much-needed help to those affected by the bushfires.”
Mr Lock visited the Red Cross Toowoomba City retail store and met with Manager Charmaine Jones, who was appreciative of the contribution from Transact Credit Union Corporation.
Transact Credit Union is also providing ongoing assistance to customers affected by the bushfire disaster through its financial hardship provisions.
Some customers have already taken advantage of the assistance available, which Transact Credit Union is happy to provide in helping members get back on their feet after the bushfires.
Customers affected by the bushfires can head to www.heritage.com.au for more information on the assistance available to them.
