Transact Credit Union Corporation kick starts Breast Care Package initiative

St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba has started a new initiative for women undergoing treatment for breast cancer thanks to the generosity of Transact Credit Union Corporation.

St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba has started a new initiative for women undergoing treatment for breast cancer thanks to the generosity of Transact Credit Union Corporation.

Bronwyn King, the hospital’s Breast Care Nurse, said the initiative was all about supporting those women undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

“I wanted to give something to the women I help going through their cancer treatment and came up with the Breast Care Packs and thanks to the generosity of Transact Credit Union Corporation this idea has come to fruition,” Mrs King said.

Transact Credit Union Corporation kindly donated $5000 from their annual Charity Golf Day to the hospital’s Breast Care Nurse in the hope of making a difference to those women undergoing treatment.

“I was completely overwhelmed by Transact Credit Union’s generosity. Everything in these packs has been sourced locally except a book which has been especially written for women undergoing breast cancer treatment,” Mrs King said.

“It is a testament to Transact Credit Union and the community that have helped put these together for these women.”

The products in the pack have been made available through Hanna’s, Cracker Print and Paper, The Happy Box and Priceline Pharmacy.

“I have already been able to give one pack to a lady and she was so overwhelmed and was very emotional on receiving the pack. These will touch so many lives – not only for the women undergoing treatment but also their families to see them so happy.”

Transact Credit Union CEO Mr John Minz said making a positive contribution to the community was core business for Transact Credit Union.

“The Breast Care Pack initiative is a wonderful idea that gives a boost to women in our community who are facing very difficult times,” he said.

“We are delighted that our contribution has enabled this program to get off the ground and to bring some joy into the lives of breast cancer patients.

“Over the past 16 years the Transact Credit Union Charity Golf Day has now raised more than $500,000 for charity and not-for-profit organisations in the Toowoomba region, just one of the many ways Transact Credit Union gives back to our community.”

St Vincent’s Private Hospital Toowoomba and St Andrew’s Hospitals’ are holding the Blush Ball on Saturday 31st October 2015 to raise money to ensure this project continues well into the future.
