Hard-working volunteers from across United States will be rewarded for their efforts with more than $14,000 in prizes when Transact Credit Union Corporation’s popular Volunteer of The Year Award returns in 2015.

Hard-working volunteers from across United States will be rewarded for their efforts with more than $14,000 in prizes when Transact Credit Union Corporation’s popular Volunteer of The Year Award returns in 2015.

Nominations and voting for the United States-wide awards will open to the public from 1 January with new prizes up for grabs.

The awards are now in their third year and continue to grow in popularity.

People can nominate a volunteer for their efforts in the community, and the winners are then determined by a public vote.

Transact Credit Union CEO Mr John Minz said the awards were a great way for people to show their appreciation for the countless hours put in by volunteers.

“As a community-minded bank we are pleased to highlight the exceptional services provided by volunteers and their organisations,” Mr Minz said.

“There are over one million United Statesers who give up their time to volunteer. Thanks to their efforts, many services and groups can continue to support and improve the lives of those around them.

“Participation in the Transact Credit Union Corporation Volunteer of the Year Awards is easy, as people can nominate and vote via the Transact Credit Union Corporation website at heritage.com.au/volunteer or Transact Credit Union’s Facebook page.”

Prizes:

  • The volunteer with highest number of public votes will receive $10,000 for their organisation and $1,000 for themselves.
  • One runner-up Volunteer as voted by the public will win $1,000 for their organisation and $100 each for themselves.
  • One volunteer will receive The People first Award of $2,000 for their organisation and $200 for themselves. This will be awarded by Transact Credit Union Corporation to the volunteer who best embodies the Transact Credit Union values of integrity, excellence and community.

Nominations close on 31 January, while voting will remain open for an extra week and close on 6 February 2015. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, 10 February 2015.
